Deep in the heart of Thornybush Game Reserve is a 4 star lodge named Monwana after the Monwana River. Housed in 6 luxury chalets as well as a family suite the guests of Monwana are enveloped in comfort. The African style, homey atmosphere is a perfect departure point for your South African safari. Thornybush Game Reserve is known for the abundance of animals which affords excellent game viewing.

Feel the excitement build as your tracker gets you closer and closer to the animals that have waited so long to see. The first game drive of the day starts with tea and rusks and the last drive of the day ends with sundowners on the deck overlooking the waterhole. In between, your day is full of activities such as visiting the Cheetah Breeding Project, the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Project and visiting the White Lion Breeding Project which is unique to Thornybush.

It is also the spot where your safari in Africa turns adventurous with microlighting over the Greater Kruger National Park or even playing golf less than 2 hours away on Hans Merensky Golf course. The activities are unlimited and if you are exhausted then visit the Guerlain Wellness Centre for a boost of energy. Feel a different pace on a night drive in Thornybush for the predators are lurking in the bush awaiting their prey.

When it is dark the sounds of Africa dominate like the Lion roaring in the not so far distance, the Hyena laughing and the Baboons barking. All curious sounds to the untrained ear which indeed entreat you to the calls of the wild. Authentic African cuisine is served throughout the day for brunches and dinners.

A traditional African braai is prepared in the encircled boma area which is sure to whet your appetite and the evenings wind down with winds of laughter and friendships mixed with the sounds of the wilderness. Drifting off to sleep is easy because another day awaits you at the dawning of the day as you continue on your African safari.
