Where the Mitomani and the Biyamiti Rivers converge you will find a unique piece of history in the Greater Kruger National Park. A statue of a dog, named Jock, will lead you onto the path of myths and legends. Jock was an audacious animal that was brave and persistent. The lodge was built by the descendants of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick who was the owner of Jock. Together with the Niven family the lodge is a testament to historic days of gold rush pioneering when Jock and his owner traversed the land. The terrain is as rugged today as it was back then.

Situated right in the mainstream of Kruger National Park Jock Safari Lodge is in a prime location for superb game drives. It is a private reserve so you will be able to see the wildlife from open safari vehicles with local, expert guides. The animals in this sacred part of the reserve are abundant and the bird life is exquisite. Every tree, bush and bird tells the story of the gold rush days when Jock was alive and gold diggers were after their ever allusive prize- gold!

Your daily game drives and bush walks will fill your safari senses and stories will be shared around the fire in the traditional African boma with sundowners and dinner. Because each chalet is strategically placed on the river’s edge you can also view the wildlife come for water from the comfort of your viewing deck. History buffs will be in heaven with the books, stories, myths and legends that envelope the lodge.

The actual gold miner’s path is near the lodge so you can relive South African history for yourself. From the covered wagon in the yard to the historical artifacts placed around the grounds and the books in the library the lodge is a living museum.
